Parker Payson is the writer and producer of the PBS series, “Great American Speeches”. Born in New York City, Payson now lives in Alexandria, Va., with his wife, son and dog. He works as director of the history project for Alexandria, which puts together historical documentaries and finds historical material for educators and producers.
Payson, former news editor for the Washington Report, has been a reporter and D.C. correspondent for several magazines and newspapers for the past decade. Educated at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., he received a graduate degree from the University of Chicago.
