Daniel Ferguson has produced and directed documentaries for History Television, the National Wildlife Federation, National Geographic Channel, France Television and the Smithsonian Institution. He has also been involved in the creation of several IMAX films for museums, including Lost Worlds: Life in the Balance (inspired by the writings of E.O. Wilson), Wired to Win: Surviving the Tour de France (about the human brain as the engine of possibility) and Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta (one of the largest documentary productions ever filmed in the Arabian Gulf). From 2010-2013, he wrote, produced and directed the 3D IMAX film, JERUSALEM, currently in distribution by National Geographic Studios. The film won Best Cinematography and Best Film at the 2014 Giant Screen Cinema Association Achievement Awards and has been seen by over 3 million people worldwide. Through years of negotiations and trust-building, Daniel and his team were able to gain unprecedented access to the holy sites and obtain rare aerial permits for the film.

Daniel has worked in over 40 countries and is passionately engaged in issues of social justice and the environment. He serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) and the Alter-Ciné Foundation, a Montreal-based fund offering grants to documentary filmmakers in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
