  Juanita Jackson

Performing since the age of five, Jackson’s first instructor in voice and piano was her mother. She went on to study with Louis John Johnen, a well-known voice and music teacher. She currently studies with Mary Ann Stabile Cooper, noted soprano and voice coach, of Mclean, VA.

Juanita Jackson is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati and Miami University of Ohio with degrees in education and administration. She has performed as alto soloist in such oratorios as Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Haydn’s Mass in Time of War and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. She has performed as a member of the choir in Mendelssohn’s St. Paul Oratorio, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore and Brahm’s Requiem.

Jackson has performed recitals in several New England states and in churches in New York and Virginia. She has also performed in schools for American history studies and during Black History Month.

Jackson is married to John Arter Jackson and has two children and four grandchildren, who enjoy Chautauqua each summer with her.
