Carol Redmond Naughton became the Executive Director of the East Lake Community Foundation (the Foundation) in October 2001. The Foundation, founded in 1995, has developed a bold and innovative model of community development that is breaking the cycle of poverty in the East Lake neighborhood of Atlanta. Prior to joining the East Lake Community Foundation, she was General Counsel and Deputy Executive Director for Legal and Nonprofit Affairs for The Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta, Georgia (AHA) where she served as a key member of the leadership team responsible for the metamorphosis of AHA from a failing agency in danger of a Federal takeover to an agency that is today recognized as the leader in the reinvention of public housing. She is a 1986 graduate of the Emory University School of Law and was Executive Editor of the Emory Law Journal. She graduated from Colgate University in 1982. Ms. Naughton is a former president of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is a former member of the Board of Governors of that organization.
