Werner Fornos is the president of the Population Institute, an international and educational non-profit organization seeking to reduce excessive population growth. Considered one of the world’s leading scholars on population issues, Fornos won the 2003 United Nations Population Award, as well as the Earth Times Hall of Fame for his contributions to development and environment in the past ten years. Fornos is also the author of Gaining People, Losing Ground.
