Dr. Joycelyn Elders, former U.S. Surgeon General of the Public Health Service, is now a pediatric endocrinologist at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. A former first lieutenant for the Army, Elders went to the University of Arkansas Medical School on the G.I. Bill. After earning her M.D., she interned at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis and completed her residency at the University of Arkansas Medical Center. Dr. Elders has written three books and over 150 articles based on her research of the growth of children and the treatment of hormone-related illnesses. . . . short bio
